Ever wanted your own e-commerce site? Who doesn’t, but who wants the headaches, the coding, the testing, and the order fulfillment. It’s a huge undertaking. Who wouldn’t be overwhelmed. Well it doesn’t have to be that way.
There is an easier way, and there are multiple options out there I am just going to discuss one option.
Amazon has an Associates program, you can add banners (ads) on your site and if some one clicks on your banner and then buys a product from Amazon, your Amazon associate’s account gets a percentage back. Anyone can do this, go to www.amazon.com and click on the Associates link and setup and account.
The next step is not that much more complicate, you can setup what Amazon calls an ‘astore’ which is a full page of links, search and product lists that mimics a store that you can add to your site.
The next step up from that requires some 3rd party software. In my case I used “Associate-o-matic” (I know a cheesy name). AOM lets you setup a multi-page site with a great deal of customization. It also has a Free (sort of) version that you can download and install on your hosting service. It’s only sort of free, because it takes 10% of your associate fees. There is a pay version of the software, where you pay an annual fee and get all of your associate fees.
Here is the result of a few hours work http://www.channelobscura.com/store Check it out, feel free to buy something
